Tax CaseJersey shore summers are more than a vacation destination for so many; it is a way of life. Between the many beaches on the east coast, two very popular are Ocean City and Somers Point; both beach towns are home of the famous Manco & Manco Pizza restaurants are frequented by tourists and natives alike. Recently in the news, however, owners of the restaurant landmarks pleaded guilty to crimes involving taxation.

The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Bangle were arrested last year for events occurring between 2007 and 2011. On Thursday, July 2nd, Mr. Bangle pled guilty to crimes of concealing more than $263,000 in income on taxes, and making deposits of less than $10,000 into his personal bank account to avoid taxation. Mrs. Bangle pled guilty to making false statements to IRS agents when asked about the amount of cash deposited into her personal bank account.

Though both parties plead guilty to the charges, they are still hoping to argue against some of the evidence and confront their bad judgment calls during sentencing scheduled to take place on October 8th. Mr. Bangle looks at a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison while Mrs. Bangle is facing a maximum 5 years in prison. Both face a fine for $250,000.
